Time Is Not On My Side, No It Isn't

If the Rolling Stones Did Not think time was on their side.

Yes time, time, time is NOT on my side, no it isn't
Time, time, time is NOT on my side, no it isn't
Oh, time, time, time is NOT on my side, no it isn't
I said, time, time, time is NOT on my side, no it isn't
Oh, time, time, time is NOT on my side
Yeah, time, time, time is NOT on my side

Daily Picture:Fun With a Camera and Facebook

I was having fun with my camera and came up with this shot.  Funny thing is the image is the polar opposite of me...  Had to post it as my profile pick on Facebook too... LOL

Four Day Weekend is not enough.

Thursday a Nice Thanksgiving

Well on Thursday I had my Parents, My 96 Yo Grandmother and my 26yo Brother over.  The food turned out great and everyone seemed to have a good time.  Of course we all ate way too much so I think I may have to restart Project 182. (Not a Joke)

"The 5" I am Thankful Edition

  1. My Children- I am truly thankful to have my three boys.

  2. My Wonderful Wife- I am Thankful she can put up with me.

  3. My Family- I am Thankful to have all my family even if life has thrown some curve balls at the entire family.  the majority of us live close so that helps when we all need something.

  4. All My Friends- Even though we have all been busy lately I am thankful to have so many wonderful friends.  You all know who you are.

  5. Still Employed - The wife and I are still bringing in a paycheck when so many other people are not.

20 More Days Before I go Under The Knife

Well it is getting a heck of a lot closer to December 19th.  I get my hernia repaired and it is a welcome operation, but at the same time freaks me out.  I was under the knife in 2006 to fix a tendon and now this.  Then I will be able to be back on my bike this spring which will help with the weight loss.

Decorating

We spent all day yesterday putting up lights and decorating inside and outside.  The big key is my wife has to be able to take everything down without me since I will not be in a position to help much come New Years Weekend.  We found a few more strings of lights today and put those up in a really cool way.  I am going to have to pick up a few more strings to take that and expanded it a little bit.

Working

Well with my contract job and my regular job I spent most of the day working.  I would take a break for a little while to cook or do a few things around the house.  Tomorrow will be a repeat of today.

PEOPLE SUCK...

Read the article today about the Walmart in NY where people trampled an employee as they burst through the doors to save a few dollars on stuff they probably could have done without.  To be involved at all in a crowd that killed someone is just shameful.

The Best Pizza for Under $5.00!

Daily Picture: Home Made Chicago Style Pizza!

A look at the Crust...

It is not a secret that I love pizza and love to cook.  If I had the space I would get a resturant grade Pizza Oven for my kitchen.  Well in order to cut back even more I decided to start making my own pizzas again.  This beauty can feed 4 or 5 and cost me about $5.00 to make.  This pizza was Sausage, Black Olive and Onion with a Flour and Cornbread Crust.  A week ago I made a Mushroom, Black Olive and Onion one that the wife preferred.  Cooking it can be a challange and getting the right texture to the crust in a conventional oven is pretty difficult.  Having a bread machine also helps when making the dough.  It can get that mix just right and adding a little extra to it can be fun. This does not help my diet, but it was worth it.

Having No time to Think or Blog.

Well with my regular job and my contract position I have been spending more time again working, but at the same time trying to spend more time with the boys.  I have gotten into a groove with the contract work so things should be pretty smooth from this point on.

A short post... Tomorrow I plan on doing a review of The Shield Season Finale as well as a special Thanksgiving Post for Thursday.  "The Things I am Thankful For"

It has been a few too many days...

Daily Picture: Helping out a football practice... This season I helped at practice a lot and seeing me line up next to the boys is funny...

Well the past few weeks have been a mess and rather difficult for me to have the time or energy to blog.  Yeah me not talk I must be tired.  I officially went 3 for 3 with sick kids.  On Friday I got a call from 8yo school to have me come pick him up. He was feeling terrible and had a bad cough.  So I had to grab the little ones and pile into the van and head to school.  On the way home he was having one long coughing fit.  As we get out of the van he heads into the and pukes on the garage stairs going down to the family room.  At least he puked in the garage on concrete above a drain.  Friday I had to hurry and call the swim team to let them know he would not be at the meet on Saturday.  He was upset he did not get to go to the meet, but I think he is over it.

Football Party

On Sunday we had a football pizza party to go to and 8yo was feeling up to it.  They had awards, food, bowling and a great time together.  The coaches wife and team mom took thousands of pictures and she gave each of us a slide show.  I am going to get all the other pictures from her in hopes to find a few good action shots of 8yo.

Plastic Window Seals

We have some large windows in the front of the house that can get drafty in the winter.  At our old townhome I used the shrink wrap stuff on the window and it worked great.  So i decided to do that with the current window issue.  Well stuff would not stick right, it would rip and made for an all around miserable experience.  It is done, but i was sure grumpy...

"The 5"

  1. Papa Johns is not pizza, but fast food-At the Pizza Party there was enough food for the adults too, if you can call Papa Johns food.

  2. Contract Work - The extra contract work right now is nice to have.  I have just gotten into the groove of things and I am looking forward to getting through it all.

  3. Star Trek Trailer - Went Live today. Get your Geek On!

  4. Robot Chicken Star Wars II - What a blast... Seth Green and the bunch are too funny.

  5. Sick Day- Tomorrow will be a sick day for 8yo.  I just hope he feels weel enough to not have me wait on him all day.

The Plague Keeps Spreading!

Daily Picture: Make that another Video... Another Song the little ones like... Laurie Berkner

4yo is sick with a form of Croup, woke up last night screaming his ears hurt and we have an appointment in a couple hours since I am positive he has an ear infection to go with it...

Baby has the seal bark cough and a lot of weezing going on so in a couple hours he gets to see the Dr as well and more then likely he has croup as well.  I will then talk to the Dr about how to prevent what we know will happed... An Ear Infection...

I am on day 3 of the Sinus infection and my face still hurts.  I thought for a moment a large bug was going to crawl out of my nose...

So far the Wife and 8yo have avoided being sick which is a good thing.  It is difficult enough to have a couple sick kids, but when I am sick as well it makes for a really long day.  If the Wife and 8yo were sick too it would be a real mess around here.

Our Pediatrician has two main offices and we go to one of them 99% of the time.  Well today we attempted to go to the other since the wifes office is on the way and we would pick her up so she could join us.  I hate talking to them over there... When I call I get the what do you know about sick kids attitude and I don't think you can diagnois an Ear Infection.  Between my 3 boys we must have had no less then 20 so I know what I am looking at.  Well they really did not have an appointment open at that office so we are going to the regular office where the entire staff knows me and greets us all.  We spend WAY too much time there...  Heck last time I was there a couple weeks ago they said if I needed a job I would fit in with all of them really well.  (Not careful I might have to take them up on that)

"The 5"

  1. Being Sick Stinks - Having 2 kids sick and being sick really stinks.

  2. Take My Ball And Go Home - No matter who you voted for there is always an opinion.  Well I have seen a whole bunch of people say they don't like our country now and think they might have to move.  Your canidate did not win so you need to take your ball and go home.  Hey if you want to leave go right ahead, someone else will take your job.

  3. Jawa Tossing is Fun - Force Unleashed, Jawas and Force Powers are FUN!

  4. Docotr Who - Starts again soon... YES!!!  Some good quality SciFi...

  5. Cold Weather - The cold is starting to roll in.  Won't be long before it is below zero out... Oh Joy...

The Week That Was...

Daily Picture: Make that Video...

I made this track for my 4yo when he was napping this weekend.  He has been sick again! (more on that later) So he was not happy so while he napped I made this cool race track in the toy room in the basement.  He was so excited to play with it.

The week that was...

Bad Work Week

I am a "Work At Home Dad" and work for a mortgage software company as a software tester.  My actual title is Director of Quality Control which involves all aspects of testing and proofing.  Well the key word in all this is, you guessed it MORTGAGE!  Well the industry as been hammered and our money is generated by clients using our documents to create mortgage loans.  Well when there are not as many people taking out loans our business falls.  When clients fail our businees falls... I was full time over a year ago, but with all the problems I have taken cut after cut, but still made good money.  The "extra" time I had was rather nice with the baby being born.  Well on Wednesday I got a call from my boss the President of the company and was told there was going to be another round of cuts and possibly layoffs after he met with the owers on Thursday.  So panic sets in... I could be out a job completely the next day.  I sent out some things and made contact with a few people and lined up a contract job that goes from 11/12-12/31 so at least the end of the year is covered.  Come Thursday I get the news I am NOT layed off, but will need to take a big cut for the next pay period while a group of new clients come on board.  Once they are moving things will improve.  We won't know how well they have improverd until the first week of December.  So I may or may not have a job... If not I will be looking for other contract work... Oh Joy!  With 3 kids it would be way to costly for me to go back into an office, plus we do not want others raising our kids.  I can screw that up all on my own.

Croup

Friday afternoon 4yo started to cough a bit.  By 2:00 AM he was struggling to breathe so we gave him a streaming shower which helped settle him the rest of the night.  Saturday morning he went to the Doctor to see what was the matter and he has CROUP!  Seal bark cough and all around misery. Stomach thing a couple weeks ago and now this.

Football Trophy Presentation

Well all the Bantem Jr Warrior Teams met and they got a little trophy for participating in the year.  They are too young and not in a competitive league to have much else.  All the boys were so excited and had a blast.

Sinus Infection For Me

I woke this morning feeling like someone hit me in the face.  The wife did not punch me in the face so I was off to the Doctor for me.  Yep I was right it was a sinus infection that has made me feel like crap...

No "The 5" Special on tomorow when I am not so tired...

Well 4yo likes Noggin and when this song comes on the baby gets so excited...

Proud To Vote!

The two younger boys and I went out this morning and I voted.  The polling place was more crowded then I have ever seen it, but I still did not have to wait at all.  I think it took me longer to walk from my car to the building then it did to vote...

Monday and a Review of the past few days.

Daily Picture: Kids on Halloween...

It is officially almost Tuesday now, but  I thought I would do an update since my time has been short the past few weeks.  With all of us pretty much under the weather and Halloween it has been difficult to find any time at all.

Halloween

Well of course the kids had a blast.  The wife took the day off so she could go to the two older boys school parties and they really liked that treat.  She even dressed as a Princess which 4yo thought was great and 8yo was a bit less excited.  The RARE photo of the wife on my blog.  As for all the trick or treating the boys got way too much candy.  The wife took the 3 boys out early and I worked a bit while handing out candy.  Then once the two younger boys were tired I took the 8yo out for some extended trick or treating.  Just before we left my 21yo Brother in Law showed up with his Fiance and a friend all dressed up.  So they joined us for a little walk to take in some Halloween spirit.

Football Equipment Return

We had to return all the gear between 8:00 and 9:00 am on Saturday so we got the stuff together and headed to the field and the equipment shed.  Shed is really not the right word, more like LARGE garage.  After dropping it off I realized that might be it for him.  He is so small that I doubt he will want to play in the next age group next year.  Too many really big kids.

Saturday 6 Hour Swim Meet

Well 8yos first swim meet was Saturday at 2:00 so to get there and warmed up we had to leave at 12:30.  We made it home by about 6:15.  The meet was ok and I was disappointed because everything was a but unorganized.  8yo had two relays and one single event to swim in.  The first relay his lane was disqualified because the last swimmer paniced at the last second and decided not to swim.  The next race was the 50 Freestyle which is long for the 8 and under crowd.  He came in last (6th), but the two ahead of him barely beat him.  We need to work a little on form and he will do much better.  The final race was another relay and they came in last because there was confusion at the ends and the last person jumped in and got out only to have to jump right back in.  With the 8 and unders they only swim 25 meters so it is basically one length of the pool.  When they do this they are split on either end and this sometimes causes confusion.

Sunday Football

I watched the Bears barely pull of the win while at the same time see Kyle Orton go down.  He will miss a bunch of games and we will have to deal with "Good Rex" and "Bad Rex"  hopefully having a chip on his shoulder will get him motivated.  The defense will also have to step up and play like they did in the second half not allowing a single point to be scored.  First half they let the Lions get 23 points... THATS BAD!  hey they are still 5-3 and sitting alone on top of the NFC North...

Monday back in the swing of things...

Project 182 and the Weigh In Move

Well another Monday is here and another day to check my progress.  After a whole lot of thought and suggestions from friends I am moving my weigh in to Wednesdays instead of Mondays.  The idea behind it is to make sure I do not get frustrated after a weekend if we had some social event or ate poorly for a day.  Typically Friday or Saturday will be days where the diet crashes.  So this week there will be a second weigh in.  Well this morning I got on the scale a despite a bad weekend I am still down about a pound.  If I breathe then I am in the same spot.  8 pounds in a little over 4 weeks is something to be proud of...  I just can not wait for the next 3... Getting to the 259 mark will be a celebration.  I did try on some jeans this weekend that did not fit and I was actually able to button them.  I could could hardly move, but I am one step closer to having more clothes...

The Stats.
  • Weekly Weight Loss: 1 Pounds

  • Overall Weight Loss: 8 Pounds

  • Starting Weight:270

  • Current Weight:262

  • Time Left: 149 Days

  • The 5 (Project 182 Edition)

    1. Pizza - We had Pizza on Halloween which was amazing, but I ate way too much.  It tasted so good!!!

    2. Beer - I had one on Halloween with the pizza and it was heavenly.  Pizza and Beer... Mmmmm

    3. Candy- With all the Halloween Candy in the house it is difficult to stay on target.  I want to lose the weight so I need to stay focused AWAY from the candy

    4. Coke - My biggest hurtle... I have not gone cold Turkey, but have cut way back.  I doubt I can stop drinking it all together.  It is the little things in life that are so bad, yet taste so good

    5. Sparkling Water- Perrier, La Crouix, San Peligrino are all sparkling waters that have saved me so much.  I like the carbonated drinks and there are no calories in the sparkling water.
