Out of Shopping Experience

Daily Picture: Puppy Face

"The 5"

  1. Cold Football - Well tonight the weather turned and all the parents were cold watching the little guys practice.  I need to remember to bring extra stuff to practice for different weather conditions

  2. Small World - Turns out one of the kids on my sons football team lives a block away.  He is in 1st grade so that is why we did not know right away.

  3. Tomorrow PC/TV setup - The tracking on my order of parts for my extra older PC come in tomorrow.  So tomorrow night everything will be set on the BIG tv

  4. Face Book - Been messing with that a bit more lately.

  5. Super Blogroll - I set up a special blogroll page, if you want to be added let me know.  I can even post a small banner for you

Out of Shopping Experience

Well today I needed to get some errands done, but everything seemed to be against me.  I was really tired sonce the baby was up a lot with his teeth last night.  The timing was just off and things took longer so by the time I started after the groceries the two little boys were tired and cranky.  I am not sure if it was just me as well, but there seemed to be additonal "Isle Blocker" in the store today and of course the older Zig Zagger!  I honestly have to say it was one of the most goofy shopping trips I have ever been on.

The Weekend Review

"The 5"

  1. Too much TV thanks to DVRs - It does not seem that long ago that DVR meant nothing to most people.  Now with the DVR I have way too much TV to watch.  This looks good, that looks good lets record them I have 100 hours to use...

  2. Da Bear Defense - After the Bears gave away two games it was nice to seem them make a major goal line stand and beat the Eagles despite only getting 3 points in the second half... Da Bears!

  3. Not so "Tall"- I was looking for a sweat shirt this weekend and JC Penny normally has a good selection of Tall sizes.  I have Monkey Arms and a long upper body.  I need the TALL!!!  Well I tried some tall sweat shirts on and they were SHORT!!!  Marked tall, but fit like a regular...

  4. TV + PC + Cool - Last week I hooked up my laptop to the new TV to stream the season premier of Heroes that my DVR decided not to record.  Well we have my old work PC that my laptop replaced in the boys room and not used much.  I ordered a wireless card for it and a wireless mouse and keyboard so this week I will hook the PC to the TV as a PERMANENT arrangement.  We will be able to stream any shows form online as well as email, surf and the like.  It is not high end machine, but the streaming and stuff should be just fine!  Plus having a 40" HD LCD is pretty cool for a computer.

  5. The Grass - With all the rain and my busy schedule I struggled to get the grass cut.  When I was finally able to it was in dire need of it.  Cut, cut again and bag...

Saturday

Football

We had a football game at 9:00 that 8yo and I had to leave for at 7:00.  It was against the same organization that we played last week, but a different team.  The one last week was playing dirty and after the league got a ton of complaints they had board members at the game to make sure everone behaved.  We lost 7-0, but it was a great game and we were basically one play form winning...

Yard Work

I spent nearly 5 hours working around the yard between cutting the grass, fixing landscape lights and power washing the concrete.  It was a long day, but I was able to get a whole bunch done.

Friendly Visit

A College friend of the wife's was in town so she came over for Dinner and a visit in our crazy world.  With the boys, dogs and our generally busy schedule it was probably a bit more crazy then she is used to.

Sunday

House Work, Shopping and Football...

We had to finish our house stuff in the morning and go shopping in the afternoon.  The boys needed clothes and the wife and I needed odds and ends.  We stopped by JcPennies and Wal Mart, but could have stopped by a dozen stores if we had the time.  Will get some more things after Wednesday when Kohls has a major sale.

The Bears played Sunday night so I got to watch the second half in piece, which was the boring half.  It was great they won and shows they should be 4-0 not 2-2 after giving away the last two games.

It is Wednesday All Ready...

Daily Photo: Picking Apples

The 5

  1. Rain and Hail - This afternoon a major storm rolled in fast and hard.  One minute it is sunny, next minute it is coming down in buckets.  Not too much later the hail began and I was glad my van was in the garage.

  2. More Teeth - Apparently the baby thinks he wants more then just one tooth.  He was a bit cranky today as well as extra drooly so looks like number 2 tooth is on the way.

  3. Way Behind - I am so behind I think I might be lapped by the stuff that needs to get done.

  4. The Wire - Got Season 5 now playing in the background while I work at night.  Too bad it is the final season

  5. The Golden Buddha - My next audio book on tap... If I like it Cussler has a whole series and the library has them all.

Wednesday Review

Heroes Two hour Premier.

After fightnig with my DVR I was finally able to sit and watch the Season 3 Premier of Heroes on NBC.  Of course the first part was Titled "Villians" and it really explores a Darker side of the characters.  I will not spoil it just in case others had issues with there DVR's like I did, but the show once again throws a few new twists in the show that make you a little dizzy.  The show has cranked up the graphic violence as well as Darkened a few of the characters.  Blood, Brains, new powers and new revalations have started the new season off wih a bang.  Where they will go with the different story lines especially since at any point Tim Kring can throw in another change to force a new direction.  I enjoyed the Premier and if you missed it or if your DVR is a Piece of Junk like mine you can watch the episodes online.  Granted you have to watch the same "Eagle Eye" preview over and over and over again.

Daily Journal

My time is currently not my own and I am struggling to get the simplest things done.  I am trying to gather some more focus, but it seems time is not on my side.  More to come tomorrow...

A Weekend in Review

Daily Picture:The Rural Road... (15 Miles from Me)

The 5

  1. Poor Sports - 6-8 year olds should not be getting Unsportsman like conduct calls on them in football.

  2. POS DVR - My DirecTv DVR is the biggest POS in the world.  If I do not reset it all the time it will just decide not to record stuff.  Like the 1st HOUR of Heroes tonight...  Early next year DirecTv will have a new HD DVR designed by TIVO and using the TIVO software...

  3. Computer to TV - Tomorrow I am picking up a cable to connect my PC to my 40" HD Samsung LCD.  Then I can play the first Ep of Heros from my Laptop to my TV...

  4. Cider Donuts - Mmmmmmmm

  5. First Tooth - Baby got his first tooth over the weekend... Yeah!

Saturday a long frustrating day...

Saturday my 8yo son had a football game in the early afternoon.  1:00 kickoff against another team at a neutral location.  Well we needed to be there a full hour early and ready to go.  It was rather hot and humid with pretty much no shade near the field.  Due to delays from the other games we ended up not taking the field until 2:30!!!  That was just the begining.  As the kids get out to play they are hot and tired already.  The first play from scrimmage the other team runs the ball to the outside while his blocked hook tackles our defender and he runs for a TD no call.  Now in the 6-8 age level the refs actually let some things go by especially early.  Well this continued in the first half and began to escalate.  Now not onl were the other teams kids holding and tackling defenders they were PUSHING in the back.  Not a slight touch, but coming from behind and pushing kids on their face from behind.  Away from the play and even after the play was over.  Our entire side was up in arms and our coach went out had had words with the refs and the other coach.  As the second half started we were down 26 to 0...  As the second half starts the first play from scrimmage the other team runs the ball, tackles a defender and 3 kids push our kids over from behind... FLAGS everywhere...  the refs decided to start calling this garbage play.  In the second half there was not a single play that the other team did not get flagged.  It was so bad we almost had the kids walk off the field and just leave in protest to the conduct of the other team.  After the game ended the coaches were beyond mad and so were al the parents.  Not only did they push in the back after the play one kid was actually sucker punched in the stomach and they received multiple threats of further buse from the other teams players...  We have to play this same organization again this Saturday at their home field.  A league official is meeting with the parents at practice tomorrow and the coaches want us to speak them and as a team decide our next action.  The way the other team played was just plain wrong... It would not be in our best interest to go play there...  We will decide tomorrow...

Busy Sunday

With Yard work and house work the day was a total blur.  Not to mention I got to watch a Bears game were there were MULTIPLE unsportsmanlike conduct calls on both teams making the football weekend truly complete...

Field Trip Monday

Today 4yo's preschool class had a field trip to a farm and apple orchard about 25 miles from my house.  We are on the edge of the suburbs.  We have Walmart, McDonalds and are near major roads, but we are also surrounded by farm fields.  Today the trip out put us in the rural countryside in about 15 miles.  The trip was a blast and 4yo had such a great time.  We picked apples, had cider and donuts as well as saw animals, played at a park and ran around having a good time...

SPECIAL NOTE: I made a minor change and now my Blog Roll has its own page.  I will put a graphic link up for it this week, but until then it is on the tabs at the top...

A Few Days Behind...

Daily Picture: The Great Bug Hunter bags a big one...

(A rather LARGE Praying Mantis 4yo found in the garden.  It is the biggest one I have ever seen.)

The 5

  1. Bug Obsession - 4yo has a bug obsession and it has him catching some interesting bugs...  He catches Dragon Flies like they are slow slugs.

  2. Day Off - 8yo has the day off form school.  Another the teachers need another day off day.  I think we have maybe two weeks that are full weeks and every other a short day or day off.

  3. Behind - No matter what I do it seems I have no time and keep falling behind.  Even my blog is a few days behind.

  4. Harry Potter -  I have been listening to the audio books again.  It is nice to once in a while listen to the stories.  I am currently listening to "The Goblet of Fire"

  5. Puppy -  The puppy is doing well, he is being a puppy and likes to dig.  We need to watch him extra hard so he does not ruin my emerald green yard...

The Wednesday Review (a few days late)

Star Wars, The Clone Wars.

As the Clone Wars sweep through the galaxy, the heroic Jedi Knights struggle to maintain order and restore peace. More and more systems are falling prey to the forces of the dark side as the Galactic Republic slips further and further under the sway of the Separatists and their never-ending droid army. Anakin Skywalker and his Padawan learner Ahsoka Tano find themselves on a mission with far-reaching consequences, one that brings them face-to-face with crime lord Jabba the Hutt. But Count Dooku and his sinister agents, including the nefarious Asajj Ventress, will stop at nothing to ensure that Anakin and Ahsoka fail at their quest. Meanwhile, on the front lines of the Clone Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda lead the massive clone army in a valiant effort to resist the forces of the dark side ... Written by Warner Bros. Many reviews for this have been very negative especially from the "Fanboys"  With the legacy of the Original Trilogy nothing other then the second coming of "The Empire Strikes Back" would be considered a good film.  When I watch a movie I look for one thing and one thing only, was it entertaining?  The animation was actually very interesting.  It was a cross between the CGI animations from studios like Pixar and the Japanese form of Animation "Anime"...  This cross gave the look and feel of the movie a unique style that some like and others have refereed to as animated bobble heads.  I feel that the animation fit the story really well and made for a unique viewing experience.  Of course with any Star Wars project the sounds are top notch.  All the normal sounds and scores were used to give it a 100% Star Wars feel.  The buzz of the lightsabers and the roar of the ships immerse you in the Star Wars Universe.  The voice acting was also really good, but I was disappointed that they did not have the main character voices done by the actors from the prequel trilogy.  There of course were some that stayed the same like Anthony Daniels as C3PO, Samuel L Jackson as Mace Windu and the amazing Christopher Lee as Count Dooku... As for the story it was a little weak, but kept the attention of my 8yo really well.  With a movie like this, the animation, sound and action make the lack of a compelling story a non issue.  Sure it does not live up to the Empire Strikes Back and some of the humor and plot devices are keyed to a younger audience, but that is what makes this it's own project going in a different younger direction.  The "Battle Droids" offer the comic relief this time with bumbling antics that are juvenile and silly, but hit the mark with the kids.  When I asked my son what he thought of the movie he had one word... AWESOME!  He keeps quoting the Battle Droids.  This film and the coming TV show is not catering to the older generation of Star Wars Fans, but to their children.  I am a huge fan of Star Wars and have enjoyed the movies, books and toys, but unlike many "Fanboys" out there I can let go of the past, move out of my parents basement and let my kids take the Star Wars Toys out of the box.  If you are looking for that next great Star Wars film that will allow you to relive seeing the AT-AT's on Hoth for the first time then you will be as disappointed in this as you were in the Prequel Trilogy.  If you are looking to have a movie that your children will enjoy and still be entertaining to you this is the right movie.  The Visuals, Sounds and Action make it an enjoyable experience for the FAMILY and not just the "Fanboy"

Bug Pictures from our Friend...

I am a bit behind in my posts do to life being rather busy.  So here is Tuesdays post a little behind...

Daily Picture(s): More Indiana Bugs...

The 5

  1. Trip to Costco - I had to do a trip to Costco to get the only chicken nuggets I can get both bigger boys to eat.  While there I stocked up on a few other items as well and of course spent more then planned.

  2. School Work - We ended up having to go to Football late and leave early so that 8yo could study for his math test.  He understands everything, but tries to go too fast and makes mistakes.  So we reviewed and reviewed.

  3. School Work Pat II - I feel like I have gone back to school since I spent as much time on the homework as 8yo did.

  4. Untraceable- The Diane Lane movie was ok and rather creepy.  The plot... she is a Cyber Crimes Agent and the bad guy kidnaps people and puts them in death traps while showing it online.  As more people log on to the site the faster the person dies.

  5. Time - I have none!  I need a "Time Turner" from Harry Potter...  Then I might only be behind a little...

Daily Journal

Well with school and football in full swing trying to balance the homework with practice has become increasingly difficult.  To top it off this week is a short week with no school on Friday.  I really think the schools can not go more then 2 weeks without a short day or day off.  4yo has of course been obsessing about bugs and catching dragon flies every day.  one the winter comes he is going to be so sad...

More to come... Multiple posts today.

Monday Monday...Yep Its Monday!

Daily Picture: Indiana Bugs... (Taken by a friend)

The 5

  1. The Rain - Wow, with the major storms hitting the south there has been a increase in rain that has really soaked the area.  It started raining Friday afternoon and stopped Sunday Night... I thought I might have to build an ark soon...

  2. Da Bears- Blew a 17-3 lead to lose to the Panthers... DOH!!!

  3. Preschool Start Time - Well the preschool has two classes starting at the same time and EVERYONE has to line up in the same hallway.  40 kids and parents in a small hallway.  They are looking into changing the time a little for one or both classes.

  4. Puppy and Rain - Equals wet puppy playing in puddles and the mud... Nothing like a mud covered puppy to make your day.

  5. Guitar Hero III - Well I borrowed the game from my BIL and play a song or two at night here and there.  I beat the game on Medium, but the Hard level is just that... HARD...  It is fun enough, but it is still the old Simon Game played to rock music...

Daily Journal

Monday Monday Monday... What to say...  The weekend was long with the rain and the baby having an ear infection.  Nothing like a 7mo with an ear infection to cause everyone to lose sleep.  He was miserable and that made us feel terrible.  So this morning actually started a little better with the baby sleeping the night, but the puppy needed to go out at 5:15 this morning... DOH!!! With all the rain the little guy drinks every puddle in the yard.  Everything went well until 4yo decided to not listen to me and after repeating myself at least a dozen times I lost it... Lets just say I think the neighbors two miles away will be listening to me for now on.  Lately both older boys have decided to ignore me and do what they want and not what I ask them to do.

Busy Saturday

Football

With the rain coming down hard and a football game in the late morning I got out early and picked up a new poncho for me and one that will fit over my sons football gear.  We would have to stand around for at least 30 minutes so I thought being prepared for the weather would be nice.  Well as my son was getting ready the phone rang and the game was cancelled.  Not for lightning or anything, but because he field was UNDERWATER!  Playing water polo in football gear would be tough...

Doctor Visit

At the same time I was getting 8yo ready for football the wife took the other boys to the Dr since we knew already the baby had an ear infection.  Funny thing is that she is rarely at the Dr office so the nurses were surprised to see the boys without me...  We were right about the ear infection of course and now he is on antibiotics.  The local Meijer store has an awesome thing going for medication... Many of the medications for children are FREE!!!  Not $4.00, $5.00 or a $10.00 copay... FREE!

Star Wars Clone Wars

With the weather so bad 8yo and I went to see the Star Wars Animated movie.  We had a good time and both enjoyed the movie.  I will be doing a full review on Wednesday...  I also taught my son the joys of sneaking a water bottle into the show.  They used to not care about water a long time ago, but now they want you to spend $4.00 on a 20 oz bottle of water when I pay $.02 maybe to fill a bottle myself, not to mention keeping one more bottle out of circulation.  I find it disgusting that they charge $5.00 for a soda, $5.00 for a small popcorn and $5.00 for a small box of candy...  I hear the companies whine that it is the only way they make a profit... Well if that is the case it is about time they reviewed their business models.

Sunday is FOOTBALL day...

Well my Bears blew a big lead and dropped the game to the Panthers... For the first half the Bears dominated the Panthers, but the Panthers were able to adjust and come back.  The game itself was rather frustrating as a fan because of the obscene amount of stupid penalties on both side in the first half...  Nothing like constant game stops to make a game fun to watch...

I also spent the day Sunday cooking!  I planned a few big things to cook so I could have some easy defrost meals to do with our busy schedule.  I made a GIANT batch of Chilli that will be two big meals for use as well as a BUNCH of lunches for me.  I also did slow cooked BBQ Chicken which becomes Shredded chicken and Taco meat.  Even made a Taco Salad for dinner...  Now I do not want to be in the kitchen...

The Great Bug Hunter...

Daily Picture: Really happy To Eat...

"The 5"

  1. Coaching Troubles- My sons coaches for Football are pretty darn good withthe kids and understand everyone has difficult schedules.  Well Monday night we had some really cold rain withthe Threat of T-Storms so our Practice was cancelled.  Well my neighbors son is in the next level up, but is the same age as my son.  Their practice was NOT cancelled and the PARENTS decided not to go out to the field with the cold rain and threat of thunderstorms.  They arrived at practice yesterday to find out about 1/2 the team did not attend... They are 8,9 & 10 years old...  The coach DEMANDED Doctors notes from anyone that did not attend the bad weather practice or they would not be playing this weekend.  I can understand if the kids were just blowing off practice, but the parents made a choice for their families health and safety and the child should not be punished.  My neighbor said fine she works at the hospital and will bring in a dozen Doctors notes...  Hmmm a little crazy for this young...

  2. The Force Unleashed - The new Star Wars game is due out on the 16th and I can not wait.  I am however going to have to wait because I am short on time and money right now.  I am torn between the Wii version and the 360 version.  The 360 is going to have superior graphics, but the Wiishould be fun with the Wiimotes as lightsabers...  My BIL and Brother will probably get the 360 version...  Borrow that when they are done...

  3. Best Format- Still trying to find the best format for the Blog... We shall see what I come up with.

  4. Bulk Cooking - I am going to start cooking some things in Bulk and freezing in meal size containers to save TIME and MONEY....

  5. NFL Football - Week Two is coming up... DA BEARS!!!!

Daily Journal

My 4yo son has become the "Great Bug Hunter" to the point I think he has over hunter our back yard...  He is obsessed with finding bugs every day and I make him let them go at night.  He will spend hours in the yard and today was no different.  We went for a walk this morning and of course he brought one of his bug jars.  The wind was pretty strong and he was getting frustrated trying to catch Dragon Flies.  he would stalk them like a Lioness on the plains of Africa and pounce to have them fly up into the air and get BLOWN away by the strong winds.  He was getting desperate for a bug and rather cranky.  I looked ahead on the side walk and saw something moving...  It was coming right for us charging like a angry Rhino...  It was the BIGGEST Wolf Spider I have ever seen...  I quickly grabbed the bug jar and scooped it up making 4yo really happy.  The body was about an inch long and the legs could stretch over a 1/2 Dollar...  The rest of the afternoon he bagged some more back yard prey including a Stag Beetle, Dragon Fly and Damsel Fly...

The baby loves the new configuration of the stroller.  He is no longer in the carrier, but facing forward with the tray in front of him.  He watches the world go by as he pounds on the tray and giggles...  He has grown so fast!!!

Stresses of a busy schedule... 8yo is starting to stress out over his schedule with school and football.  He has practice 3 nights a week and that leaves little time for him to play.  Swimming starts in October, but I think that will stress him out less since the weather will be much colder durning the season... Plus he really looks forwrd to swimming...

A Teething We Will Go...

Daily Picture: (The Hand Me Down Bins)

"The 5"

  1. Teething Pains - Well it appears that the baby is starting to cut some teeth so he has been a bit cranky.  8yo was a breeze when he was teething, 4yo was awful when he teethed I am just hoping for something in between.

  2. Time Management - We have been working hard to get schedules under control, but I have yet to figure out how to get 24 hours worth of stuff done and still sleep each night.

  3. Email Congestion- I have around a dozen email addresses and I have finally entered them all into my Laptop Outlook except one which will be strictly for the wife on the home PC.  There are still a few things coming to that email so I will need to check it here and there until I have everything converted.  You might ask why I have so many emails?  Well a bunch are ones I took from the free places like  gmail, yahoo, aol, Live for the messengers and to hold my A Man Among Mommies name in places.  The messenger ones I check through Trillian and the messenger systems.

  4. Blog Changes - I don't have much time, but I am slowly making changes to the blog that hopefully will make it a better place.  I am struggling with the format, but I have some good ideas.

  5. Blog Roll - I will be more then happy to add you to my blog roll assuming your blog or site is family friendly.  Contact me and I will add you if you do the same.  If I missed you please try again I have been busy!

Wednesday Review

The Wednesday review section will be my opinion about a product, service, movie, TV show or even music.  This will be a regular feature and if it goes well I might have a few different theme days.

TV Review

"The Sons of Anarchy" on FX Wednesdays 9 PM Central Time

Sons of Anarchyis an FX Original TV series about a Chapter of the International Motorcycle Gang "The Sons of Anarchy" that maintains a "clubhouse" in the fictional town of Charming in Northern California.

Starring

  • Ron Pearlman - Clarence "Clay" Morrow the Co Founder and president of the Sons of Anarchy in charming.

  • Charlie Hunnam - Jackson "Jax" Teller the VP of the chapter and son of the deceased Co Founder John teller

  • Katey Sagal - Gemma Teller Morrowis the wife of Clay Morrow and the widow of John Teller. Jax is her son.

  • The rest of the supporting cast has some well known faces if not names.  Mitch Pileggi "Skinner" of X-Files fame plays a Drug Dealing Gang leader,  Drea de Matteo of Sopranos fame plays Jax's Ex Wife...  There are many others you will recognize from TV and movies as well.

After watching the Pilot Episodede I have to say FX has done it again.  The Network has produced some great shows including "The Shield", "Rescue Me", "Nip Tuck" and "The Riches." The Sons of Anarchylives up to the FX Drama Family by being a gritty drama that pushes the edge with actors that fit their roles perfect.  Ron Pearlman is a fantastic Biker Boss, Katey Sagal is an AMAZING matriarch that not only is a mother, but a woman you don't want to mess with especially when it comes to family.  The characters are believable and the sets add to the realism of the show.  The heavy drama is lightened up a little with some dark comedy which included a chainsaw, Deer, Windshield and Vegetarian.  It is rated TV MA (Language, Nudity, Violence...)  Nothing is over the top, but it is not a show for the kiddies.   From the start the shows high octane Adeline rush is pushed into your living room with a monstrous explosions which sets the stage for escalated violence between the "Sons of Anarchy" and a rival gang the Mayans."  Mixed in with the roar of Harley Davidson Motorcycles, Gunfire and Explosions is a story that at times is heart breaking.  Jax's son is born early when his Ex-Wife a drug user shoots up again starting a chain reaction that ends with an emergency C section and a baby in the ICU.  The cast has some great performances and this show looks like it will take as over edgy drama on FX when "The Shield" ends it's run this year.

Teething Time

Well as usual my time has been limited and this post has taken two days to put together.  The baby seems to be cutting some teeth so it is hit or miss on how he will be in the afternoon.  He had been sleeping great, but the last few nights have been a bit rough.  He is still pretty laid back, but he goes Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde rather quickly.  One minute he will be little giggle boy and the next screaming bloody murder.  He has also hit the stage where he is out growing his favorite toys.  His carrier and bouncer are now too small so his favorite hang outs are now gone.  He was a little bouncing manaic and loved to bounce himself.  He will just have to learn to jump around like his brother.

Puppy Time

Well the puppy is starting to get the hang of everything and even listening to me.  We have worked on the basic commands and he listens rather well.  After I get the basics I will make sure the boys work on those basics too with him so he pays attention to everyone.  So far this week we have had no accidents and he is understanding the whole "Go Outside" concept.  So one day at a time and he is doing pretty good.

Football Fever

Well with 8yo in Football it seems we are eating, sleeping and breathing football.  Not to mention the NFL season has started so that adds to the addiction.  Monday Night my little traitor had to watch the Packer Game... A Packer Fan in a "BEARS" house is interesting... :-)

The Great Bug Hunter

4yo has become completely obsessed with catching bugs everyday.  He will spend hours searching the yard for bugs and if he can't find one he goes crazy.  He can catch Dragon Flies with just his fingers... Pretty impressive...

Sunday Night Football!!!

"The 5" (My Vices Editions)

  1. Football - NFL football that is.  It is the one sport I enjoy watching and I can pretty much watch every Bears game, but sometimes get a Monday Night Game, Thursday Night Game and once in a great while some other Sunday Games!

  2. Pizza - I mea REAL Pizza, not Domino's or Papa John's or Pizza Hut...  Being in the far suburbs of Chicago there is a GOOD pizza place like every few miles...  Mmmmm PIZZA!!!

  3. Coca Cola- I have a COKE habit... Coca Cola that is.  My local dealer is less then a mile away in the shape of a 7-11!  I know I should not drink the stuff, but it is sweet bubbly goodness.

  4. Beer- The good beers, not Miller Lite, Bud and that stuff... Local Brewers, fine imports and the like.

  5. Chinese Food - My favorite is 10 miles away and the owners know me.  I have been getting food from there for 15 years or so... Mmmmmmm

NFL FOOTBALL!

Thursday was the start of the NFL Football season, but today was the start of Da Bears Season with an IMPRESSIVE road win over the mighty Colts...  I am always a glass half FULL guy with the Bears and said from the start they would do well this year.  Well after the spanking the Bears gave the Colts I am sure there will be plenty of excuses to why the Might Colts have fallen...

BEARS 29

COLTS 13

YOUTH FOOTBALL

8yo had his second game this Saturday and they pulled of a big win 20 to 7 over the "Spartans"  Again he played most of the game and would have had a chance to run the ball had he not gotten hit in the shins causing him to have to come out of the game for a while.  I worked the chains and had a great view of the game, but when my son got hurt my heart stopped and I desperately wanted to run on the field...

Jr WARRIORS - 20

Jr Spartans - 7

New Formats coming soon...

I am planning a few changes which will include "The 5" EVERYDAY and at the top of the post, a daily picture, a weekly PRODUCT or SERVICE REVIEW probably on Wednesday, a weekly recap on Friday and a weekend update on Sunday...  I am also going to hopefully work with a few other blogs to get some more blog roll banners up and possibly share some writing if I can work that out.  So look for some changes and reviews of things from kids stuff to Beer...

Lordy Lordy My Brother Turned 40!

Well yesterday was a very busy day and to top it off my OLDER brother just hit the BIG 40!!!

So Happy Birthdayday Old Man!!! (September 5th)

Yesterday also marked the first time I saw an old friend in 4 years!!! He along with another good friend came into town for a wedding today so we got together yesterday all day.  We played cards and had a great time since it was the first time he had seen my two youngest boys.  It was truly nice to see my friends again and get to talk about old times...  What a BLAST...

Puppy and Mud Puddles...

The Puppy yesterday while I emptied the pool thought it would be great to play in the mud.  3 bathes later we had a clean dog and dry yard...

Again...

"The 5" When Dad Is On the Phone Edition

My wife sent me this in an email after a brief call this morning so I converted it to "The 5"

"The 5" (See dad pick up phone edition)

  1. If not able to talk yet - start screaming

  2. If able to talk - ask questions of dad

  3. If you do not receive attention immediately, get louder

  4. If that does not work, add motion such as jumping up and down, failing arms or throwing objects

  5. If necessary add tears and crying - that always works

All the kids even the baby seem to time things for when I pick up the phone.  No matter what I do or say the moment that phone is on my ear I hear DAD!!!!  Once in a while this causes a problem for wor, but more often then not it is when I speak to the wife.
